The Paradox of Choice
Joseph Feibel – January 15, 2018
Barry Schwartz argues that the free market’s increase in the range of our choices has reduced our happiness, as well as, has increased our anxiety and dissatisfaction. He argues that increased choice brings increased responsibility. I agree with him. The relationship between increased choice and increased responsibility is inescapable. We don’t get something for nothing. He refuses to say this explicitly, but this is what his presentation is about: “Increased responsibility is a negative factor.”
